I was lucky enough during my 9 years working at a Beauty School that I got to watch people do makeup A LOT– and some very talented people at that! I paid very close attention, and over the years I’ve developed quite the arsenal of beauty tips and tricks!
The deep burgundy colors are definitely my favorite this season. This look was inspired by my hat (yes that’s right, and I’m also giggling because who gets inspired by a hat…me). I hope this post inspires a glowing, natural, pretty look of your own. We all deserve to look and feel our best, whether we are in front of a camera or not!
Growing up, we always had a real tree and after Thanksgiving, we would all go out as a family and cut one down at the Farm. After college and moving out of my parents, it was always easier for me to have an artificial tree, and we have always gone this route since Bob and I have been together (WE LOVE EASY). This year, I wanted to do our Christmas Holiday Cards with the trees in the background, so I said to my husband, “Let’s go to the Christmas Tree Farm!”
I swear this man must love me, because he always puts up with my craziness. He rolled his eyes in disbelief that I wanted to go there for photos when we weren’t buying a tree, but I had my mind-set, and Parker had never been there before so I thought it would be a treat for him to go and experience what I used to do as a kid! I even brought the whole set up to the farm and got “photo shoot ready” with pillows, blankets, and Christmas decor. Bob wanted to kill me after I opened up the trunk with 7 bags full of items that he didn’t know I had, but hey he got over it when he saw my vision come to life. And a shout out to my girlfriend Dani for killing the photo sesh!
Before I begin my make up, I start with a clean slate. I always make sure to complete my skin care routine first. I always prefer natural light to artificial so that I don’t accidentally over-apply the colors! I prepped my skin with the MUFE Step 1 Skin Equalizer before applying foundation. Has anyone else tried the Fenty Foundation by Rihanna? She has over 40 shades that will match so many skin tones (I have olive skin, and use shade (260). I will tell you this foundation is FULL coverage, but if you are looking for something that will stay all day then you should definitely give it a try. Her Foundation brush is also a STAPLE to have in your make up collection and gives you that airbrushed look. I set my foundation with MUFE Loose Powder and Highlighted & Contoured my face with the Narssist Contour Palette.
The eyeshadow that I used were from the Morphe Palette. I cannot say enough about Morphe products. The eyeshadow is highly pigmented and the palettes will last you a lifetime. Their brush kits are also great if you are just starting out and want a basic brush kit to get your started. My burgundy lip color is from Mac Cosmetics called “Diva”. Before applying my lips, I always use the MAC Lip Conditioner (with my skin care routine). I usually stay with the classic Red Lip and went a little out of my comfort zone, but I felt like it was different for the holidays and it ended up matching my hat perfectly!
I hope you get some inspo from this post, or at least got a giggle. What is your favorite bold lip color?
