Gender Neutral Nursery Reveal!!

Gender Neutral Baby Room

I am over the moon with excitement to finally share this blog post with you…our Gender Neutral Nursery!! I can’t stop smiling whenever I walk by this room, and it has truly turned out to be exactly what I have been dreaming of since we found out we were pregnant! Who says blue bedrooms are for boys and pink bedrooms are for girls these days? While there is NOTHING wrong with those colors, I hate how society associates colors to the sex of your child! Even if I knew the sex of my baby, I think my eyes just naturally gravitate to a more neutral color palette these days, so here we are! Hope you enjoy!

When I first envisioned what our nursery would look like, I wanted to keep it minimal with white and neutrals, but still cozy and functional for a nursery. I went on Pinterest for a few weeks and pinned some ideas, and then waited for those big sale weekends to shop for those larger purchases!

Nursery Furniture

Sometimes all it takes to get the design juices flowing is to find a particular piece that speaks to your style! I started with the furniture first and worked my way up from there. I wanted pieces that our baby could still use when transitioning to a toddler room, and felt like these pieces work perfectly to give it that modern and trendy feel!

One of the most important pieces on any baby list is the baby’s crib, and I fell in love with this Kolcraft® Roscoe 3-in-1 Convertible Crib when I saw it online! This crib has great reviews and I loved how nice it looked in other nurseries. Plus, the fact that it can be converted into a crib, to a toddler bed, to a day bed made the decision to purchase it that much easier. Baby furniture isn’t cheap, so when I can get multiple uses out if it, I’m one happy mama. My second runner up is included for you as well, but we ended up going with the Kolcraft based on the price! It’s also made of non-toxic material, is JPMA certified and meets all ASTM and CPSIA safety standards.

And while we are talking baby furniture, can we discuss the baby collaboration between Pottery Barn X West Elm?! The styles are fun and modern and everything I love! I splurged on this dresser and we are so happy with our purchase! I feel like a dresser should last you about 5-10 years, so I knew purchasing a more expensive piece would be worth it for us.  West Elm literally dropped off the dresser all put together and delivered it right into the room for us! I could definitely get used to shopping there and not having to put furniture together! I added some color by adding the tribal rug and figured I could pull out the burnt orange color with the dark blue if I wanted to add some color when I was finished. If you haven’t shopped from Rugs USA, you must try them out! They are an inexpensive option and every rug I have purchased I received in 2-3 days.

Decor

Now to the fun part! 🙂 After getting the big furniture in the room, I realized our nursery was way smaller than I thought it was (does anyone else always do this when they decorate? I’m the absolute worst with taking measurements, so I highly suggest making sure everything will fit first.) Since the room was tighter than I had anticipated, I knew I had to keep the decor to a minimal so the room didn’t feel too busy.

I found the Llama Print to hang above the crib which I felt was so perfect for that neutral feel! Once I got that hung, it just felt obvious to add some Rattan to balance the white and the colors from the rug. I love all the little details, and love supporting all the small shops! They have the cutest stuff out these days, and I couldn’t help but purchase a few trinkets and toys for the little one!

I found the Llama Mobile on Etsy, and it is probably my favorite piece of the entire room! She customized it so I could pull out those orange/navy colors from the rug and I love how it brings the whole room together! A bit of greenery goes a long way too! The Terracotta planters are from West Elm, and even if the baby is over them, I feel like I will always be able to find a special place to put these in my home! The corner plant is a fake from Urban Outfitter’s but it looks pretty realistic and gives the room that boho vibe I love.

SHOP THE LOOK:

Bassinet

I ended up splurging and purchasing a Moses basket and bassinet eventually because we wanted to limit our co-sleeping since our first was in our bed for WAYYYY too long, and guys-I’M OBSESSED! The basket is a piece of art, and you can tell it is so well made. The Dock A Tot is a Registry fave, and it fits perfectly in the basket!

Keep it fun! Just because a nursery is gender neutral doesn’t mean it has to be boring! This is still a kid’s room after all! There are plenty of ways to keep a nursery young and fun while maintaining your own style and sophistication. Now all we need is BB here and we will be set! I think I have all the information about the room listed above but I’m happy to answer any questions if there is something that I missed. Thank you SO much for following along this journey with us! We are beyond thankful for your love and support and can’t wait to introduce our little bundle with you!
