A lot of you ask how I get my loose wavy curls, and I can tell you that I have been obsessed with rotating curling irons since I have gotten my hands on them. It is the ONLY thing I currently use to curl my hair.
I am all about my sleep in the morning and hitting the snooze button as much as I can, so I needed something in my life that would be fast and easy. I love that “beach waved curl” that doesn’t look tight or too “done up”. I purchased Sarah Potempa’s Beachwaver and was a fan for many years but I went through about 3 of them and all three died on me so I knew I had to find a better product out there that would last.
I heard great reviews on the CHI Arc and had used their straight irons in the past, so I figured I would try their ceramic rotating iron that is less damaging to your hair, and I will never go back to any other product (It’s also less expensive than the Beachwaver). The barrel is a bit smaller than the Beachwaver and is a 1-inch barrel which is the perfect size for my loose curls. The curling iron heats up in a matter of 30 seconds and curls my hair so quickly. It usually takes me about 10 minutes to curl my whole head…I’m not joking guys-this iron is life changing!
I part my hair down the middle and grab 1-inch sections over my whole head and curl each piece one by one. I use the clamp on the iron to hold the end of the curl to make sure the entire piece of hair is curled. I have found that this will keep my loose waves intact for the entire day, and sometimes I can go two full days without redoing my hair! When curling each piece, you will find at first the curl to look tight-the key is to wait until the curl has completely cooled down before running your fingers through it. After running my fingers through it, I usually flip my hair upside down once or twice, and hairspray it LAST. Many times, I see people put hairspray on while the curling iron is on their head or right after, which makes that “Shirley Temple” look that is not CUTE. I swear by this process, and my curls always come out loose and styled like I went to the salon.
